Day 1: Mandalay & Mingun
Board Belmond Orcaella and cruise on the Ayeyarwady River towards Mingun. Disembark at Mingun to visit some of the more important sights including the Mingun Bell, which was until recently the largest ringing bell in the world. A welcome cocktail party with a comedic dance act is followed by your first dinner on board.
Day 2: Mandalay
Transfer to shore for a full-day tour of Mandalay. Explore the city sights, including the Kuthodaw Pagoda, Shwenandaw Monastery and Mahamuni Temple. Lunch is taken at the Sedona Hotel, Mandalay. Return to the ship for dinner and entertainment.
Day 3: Sagaing Hills
Join the morning excursion to the Sagaing Hills and take in the exceptional views. Visit a local nunnery and silversmith workshop before a horse and cart ride to the wooden monastery at Ava. After a delicious buffet lunch enjoy a day at leisure. Afternoon tea and a lecture are available in the Lounge. Sit down to a festive Christmas Eve dinner in the Restaurant followed by a surprise on the river.
Day 4: Christmas Day - Yandabo
Join us for a morning walk to Yandabo. Explore the village and watch pottery being made from the clay harvested at the riverbank. Afternoon sailing along the Ayeyarwady River before celebrating Christmas Day over a delicious dinner on board.
Day 5: Salay & Magwe
After breakfast take a walking tour of Salay. Visit the beautiful Teak Monastery and impressive Lacquer Buddha. Buffet lunch is served in the Restaurant while we sail towards Magwe. Take a tuk tuk to Magwe and enjoy the towns busy local market and famous Myathalon Pagoda.
Day 6: Pyay
Enjoy breakfast at your leisure as we cruise south towards Pyay (Prome). Lunch and afternoon tea are served on board before we arrive at Pyay for a leisurely walk around the riverside district before dinner.
Day 7: Paw-lan-gyi Elephant Camp
Disembark for a morning tour of Paw-lan-gyi elephant camp and enjoy a delightful picnic lunch. Spend the afternoon luxuriating on board as Orcaella sails on. This evening, dinner is followed by a dazzling show from one of the countrys most famous magicians.
Day 8: Gwechuang Fort & Min Hla Fort
Breakfast at leisure in the Restaurant as we sail towards our next port of call. This afternoon transfer ashore to visit Gwechuang Fort, a tactically important site in the nineteenth century. Take an ox-cart trip to experience rural life along the banks of the Ayeyarwady River. Dinner this evening is on shore an Min Hla Fort, the site of a great battle during the 3rd Anglo-Burmese War.
Day 9: Cruising Day
Buffet breakfast is served in the Restaurant. Myanmar traditional dress longyi tying and thanakha wearing demonstration on the Observation Deck. You are warmly invited to come and participate. Buffet lunch is served in the Restaurant. Cooking demonstration with Executive Chef on the Observation Deck. Longyi cocktail party on the sandbank, dinner is served in the Restaurant, followed by a movie night with popcorn and ice-cream on the Observation Deck.
Day 10: Bagan
Take a sunset tour to see one of Bagans finest temples, the Ananda Temple, and the sunset pagodas. Return to the ship for a cocktail reception on the Observation Deck. Dine on the sandbank, with breathtaking views across Bagan, accompanied by traditional live music. Enjoy a countdown to the New Year with a live band on the Observation Deck.
Day 11: Bagan
Join in the morning excursions. Visit the bustling market of Nyaung Oo before exploring the temples of Hti-Lo-Min-Lo and the Shwezigon Pagoda. This afternoon there is a choice of activities. Travel to sacred Mount Popa, stopping off at a Toddy Palm plantation on the way, or take a private horse and cart or bicycle tour within the city of Bagan. Enjoy the evenings farewell cocktail party and entertainment before your final dinner on board.
Day 12: Bagan
Transfer to Bagan airport for your onward flight.

Discover the rich heritage of the Ayeyarwady and Chindwin Rivers with a luxurious cruise aboard Belmond Orcaella.

On Belmond Orcaella there are 25 spacious cabins all open on to the river, giving guests a real connection between ship and land. The extravagant floor to ceiling glass doors provides the perfect frame to the river and its banks.

Belmond Orcaella can accommodate up to 50 guests across 2 Balcony Suites, 1 Junior Suite, 13 State and 9 Deluxe Cabins. All cabins have en-suite facilities and are arranged over two of the ship’s four decks.
