Central Croatia Wilderness Cruise

Departure from Split at 13:00h followed by lunch onboard and a swimming stop. Cruise to Pučišća on the northern side of Brač, a typical Mediterranean small town at the bottom of a deep bay, famous for the white stone of Brač, used for building the Liverpool Cathedral, the White House in Washington, and other famous buildings. There is a chance to visit a stone-masonry workshop, one of the few such workshops still operating in Europe.  Enjoy the domestic food, wine, and famous olive oil. Overnight in the port of Pučišća. Only early birds will see our departure this morning. After a morning swim in the crystal blue sea, we cruise toward Korcula; the birthplace of Marco Polo. Lunch will be served either on the tip of the Peljesac Peninsula (near Loviste) or in the quiet bay of Kneza on Korcula. Afternoon arrival in Korcula for guided tour and sightseeing in this exceptional town. According to legend Korcula was found by Trojan hero Anthenor in the 12th century B.C. On this island you can find more legends, tales and monuments than anywhere else. In the evening we recommend you visit one of numerous konobas or enjoy the stunning views of the mainland from the numerous cafes and bars. Overnight in Korcula. (B,L)

Before we depart there is time for a short walk through the nearby open market in Korcula where you can buy fresh fruit to enjoy during the day. We continue our cruise towards Lastovo, the furthest inhabited island in Dalmatia, which the Romans called the 'Imperial Island' (approx. EUR 10.- to be paid on the spot to enter Lastovo Nature Park). Docked in Ubli port, we have the opportunity to visit the protected Nature Park, which consists of 44 islands, islets, rocks and reefs, or visit the biggest town on the island Lastovo, well known for Venetian architecture. The Island is surrounded by many smaller islands, with plenty of secluded bays suitable for snorkeling, but it is also known for many little churches and unusually shaped chimneys. We will head off early to Vis Island which was closed to tourists for many years, being a strategic harbour for the navy. Because of this isolation, Vis has a special charm - the Mediterranean as it once was - which makes it really interesting to see. Near Vis, there is the little Ravnik Island, where the Green Cave is situated (entrance fee approx 10 euro if you choose to visit). It was named after the unusual light that reflects in the sea from the hole on the top of the cave. After a short swim, depending on the weather conditions, we sail further to the town of Komiza or Vis for the night. Komiza is a typical Mediterranean port on the west of the island. Enjoy a walk through the narrow alleys, rich in heritage, or maybe on one of the pebble beaches with fresh water springs that stretch along the whole eastern side of Komiza Bay. The town of Vis is situated on the north of the island and it was developed near the remains of the ancient Issa, the very first urban centre in Croatia, founded by the Greeks in 4th century B.C. Visit the remains of the Roman Baths and city museum, or take a walk enjoying the view on the beautiful Villae Rusticae situated along the coast. (B,L)

Cruise towards Little Bisevo Island to visit the Blue Cave, a magnificent natural phenomenon. As weather conditions can be very unpredictable, our visit will depend on the weather. Entrance to Blue Cave is approximately 10-14 euro per person. We continue towards Stari Grad on Hvar Island, the sunniest Adriatic island. Free afternoon to explore this unique town. The famous Stari Grad Field (a plain) is the oldest in Croatia and the best preserved example of an ancient Greek system of agriculture, Together with the old town it is a part of a UNESCO world heritage. Overnight in one of the Stari Grad ports. (B,L)

Cruise to beautiful Brac Island and the famous town of Bol which has one of the most unusual, and most photographed beaches in Dalmatia. Swim stop at Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn) a famous beach that shifts from side to side, changing shape according to the change in direction of the wind and waves. Bol is a typical fishermen’s town. It recently became a popular tourist destination, but kept its charm. Take a walk on the seaside promenade or cycle along the promenade. Hike or rent a scooter to visit Vidova Gora (at 778m, the highest peak on all Adriatic islands) for a spectacular view of Bol and beyond or visit the semi-abandoned village of Murvica. Find a nice tavern or restaurant and taste excellent fresh fish, local wines, and other delicacies of this unique island. Overnight in Bol.(B,L)

Our last day is mostly spent relaxing and swimming in quiet bays off Brac Island. We arrive in Split in the late afternoon. Split is the capital of the region of Dalmatia. and is under UNESCO protection, as its historical and cultural monuments belong not only to its inhabitants, but also to anyone who wants to capture a piece of the thousand year old beauty. Possibility of joining an optional sightseeing tour of the old town, including the fantastic Diocletian's palace. (B,L)
