Day 1: Buenos Aires to Ushuaia
Individual travel arrangements to Buenos Aires. Charter flight to Ushuaia (Included in cost). Embarkation around 18:00
Day 2: Relaxation at sea
Day 3 & 4: Falkland Islands
The British overseas territory has more than just a turbulent history; discover its impressive bird life the moment your Zodiac lands. With more than 60 different species, including rockhopper penguins, Magellanic penguins and albatrosses, the Falkland Islands are a paradise for ornithologists. During natural history walks along the coast, your experts will provide fascinating information about the head-high tussock grass and the Victorian houses in Stanley.
Day 5 & 6: Relaxation at sea
Day 7 - 9: South Georgia
In this unique wildlife paradise, the Zodiacs are used several times a day to let you experience very special sightings. For example, standing with the experts in front of a gigantic colony of king penguins. The island is home to almost 200,000 animals inhabiting the steep slopes and coasts – such as Salisbury Plain or the Gold Harbour beach where fur seals and elephant seals will not be disturbed by your visit. At the former Grytviken whaling station, the grave of Sir Ernest Shackleton recalls the adventures of times gone by.
Day 10: Relaxation at Sea
Day 11 - 16: South Orkney Islands , Weddell Sea , South Shetland Islands , Antarctic Peninsula
South Orkney Islands For scientists, the Antarctic is an enormous natural laboratory – and that includes this largely glaciated island group. You will also gain an insight into the everyday lives of polar researchers when, weather permitting, you will be taken in the Zodiacs to visit the Argentinian Orcadas station (subject to authorisation). Enjoy the pure fascination of the drifting tabular icebergs which, with a bit of luck, you will see off Signy Island, for example. The bizarre blocks that have broken off the shelf ice and their huge archways shimmer a mystical shade of blue in the cool polar light. And you will pass close by on board the ship – simply breathtaking. South Shetland Islands, Antarctic Peninsula Enjoy unforgettable moments when, for example, you set foot on the Antarctic mainland near to Paradise Bay. Snow-capped summits surround the bay, where icebergs the size of houses drift and glaciers tower hundreds of metres above. The gigantic glacier cliffs, such as those of Neko Harbor, provide a unique backdrop. Gentoo penguins stretch as far as the eye can see, for example on Cuverville Island. One of the most impressive shipping passages in the world is the Lemaire Channel: mountains up to 1,000 m (3,280 ft) high line the strait of water. The Neumayer Channel and Port Lockroy provide panoramic views of glaciers that are no less breathtaking. Weddell Sea When cruising in the Antarctic Sound, the deck becomes your front-row seat for unique natural spectacles, for example when water is suddenly parted by the fluke of a majestic whale. The Weddell Sea is home to breathtaking ice formations, some of which are as tall as a house and covered by Adelie penguins and dense pack ice. How far can your expedition ship go? For example, in 1903, the Nordenskjold expedition was forced to wait ten months to be rescued on the volcanic Paulet Island. Today, the island is home to countless penguins and, like Devil Island, makes for a very lively spectacle.
Day 17 - 18: Sailing through the Drake Passage
Day 19: Ushuaia to Buenos Aires
Disembarkation 06:00am, charter flight to Buenos Aires

Hanseatic

Vessel Type:

Length: 403ft

Passenger Capacity: 175

Built:1991

Aboard the M/S Hanseatic you will discover your very own personal expedition. Due to the background five-star service, you will enjoy your holiday to the maximum and it will become an unforgettable experience.

The Hanseatic was built in 1991 in Finland. It weighs 8380 tons and has a draught of 4,90 meters only. It is a small and versatile ship used for expeditions but at the same time it offers more than average space for its 175 passengers. On its expedition-cruises extraordinary destinations such as Antarctica, Greenland, Micronesia or the North Western Passage are to be found on the itinerary. Apart from these, destinations as Norway, the Baltic Sea, the North Sea or the Mediterranean Sea are also attractive to the Hanseatic for their more individual smaller ports, off the tourist track. The itineraries are designed in a very individual and respectful manner.

Atmosphere on board

The Hanseatic is an attractive cruise ship for the explorer type of tourist. Moreover, it offers a five star standard to its guests. During the day the dress code on board is casually sporty and ashore mainly comfortable and appropriate to the destination visited. Only for the occasion of the Captain's dinner a formal dress code would be recommended. Most of the guests belong to the middle to advanced age-groups. The Hanseatic is less attractive to families.

Living aboard

During the day meals are offered within an open seating. In the evening dinner is served in the main restaurant. There is enough capacity in the main restaurant for all guests at once. The excellent culinary offer fulfills the standard of a five star service. Each cruise of the Hanseatic is accompanied by specialized lectors who will be happy to answer all your questions on the current itinerary. In exciting and interesting presentations you will gain all important background knowledge on the visited destinations in the Darwin Hall. Once reached the destination you will shipped out in individual Zodiacs with a small group only. This will offer you a chance to experience the wonders of our nature in the most possible individual way. There a sauna, a gym and a sun bed to be found aboard the Hanseatic. On deck there is a temperature-regulated pool which is filled with sea water. Moreover, there are bicycles onboard that you can use free of charge for individual excursions in the destinations.

Cabins

All cabins are comfortable and designed elegant. The average size of 22 square meter (suites 44 square meter) offers enough space for the guests. There are exclusively outside cabins. All cabins are equipped with a television with satellite program and a possibility to send and receive emails. Your mini bar will be topped up with non-alcoholic drinks free of charge on a daily basis.
