Early morning cross the Gulf of Gokova to the extensive site of Knidos, the meeting point of the Mediterranean and Aegean seas. Knidos is famous in antiquity as the main cult of Aphrodite. Situated at the end of the Datca peninsula, this Dorian city was built on terraces rising to the acropolis. Straddling the peninsula, it had a harbor on either side, and flourished during the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Roman periods. From here, sail to Mersincik in the Gulf of Gokova; a stunning bay ringed with high mountains and woods, its clear waters and seclusion make it a favorite spot for watersports. Tonight’s destination is Cati Bay where we will moor. Cati is a beautiful natural harbor surrounded with pine trees, fantastic for swimming and walks through the pine forests.
Today sail to Yedi Adalar (Seven Islands), a chain of 6 larger and many small islands, fringed by coral reefs located very close to the shore. Each island has its own beauty, presenting you with incredible beaches and pine forests. There are many secluded beaches and coves here where you can enjoy swimming, kayaking, and snorkeling.English Harbor: When you depart and sail along the island’s southwestern coast, you will notice how the forests come down to meet the shores of deep inletsstretching inland. This rugged coastline is known as the Bay of Sixty-six Inlets. In the afternoon cruise to the secluded English Harbor, which abounds with thick green foliage. The cove takes its name from the English torpedo boats that hid here in World War II
Continue your voyage to Cleopatra Island, the site of the classical love-nest created by Mark Anthony for the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra. Here you find extensive archaeological remains scattered along one of Turkey’s most breath-taking golden beaches. Cleopatra’s Island is an open-air museum and legend has it that Mark Anthony brought the sand here for Cleopatra from the deserts of North Africa. It is forbidden by law to remove even a few grains of unusual sand from this island. Move onto the Azmak River which borders Akyaka, and is one of the first sites of natural beauty of this area. The Azmak waters remain cool all year
round, even in the heat of the summer. The river descends to the sea from the Sakar Mountain, lending almost an alpine atmosphere to the region, with the reeds on its banks and the visual delight of the resident ducks and geese, swimming alongside. The village of Akyaka is a rare jewel. Akyaka’s architecture is what makes the town so famous. Old Ottoman style dwellings that were restored in the 1970s, that are in harmony with the environment and cultural background of Turkey. Narrow, cobbled roads walled on either side. Vibrant magenta bougainvillea and orange trumpet vine climbs and sprawls along the walls. The beach at Akçapınar is completely dedicated to kitesurfing and kitesurfing lessons. No sun loungers or sunbathers, no swimmers. It is an out and out kitesurf center and known as the home of kitesurfing in Turkey. The surf and the shallow waters make it the idea place.
The pure and clearness of the sea in Akbuk Bay is achieved by the mixing of the waters of the Azmak River. Akbuk Bay is a large natural bay of warm tranquil waters with a beautiful pebbly beach boasting unforgettable views of nature.
Set sail for the Longuz Bay, where the forest touches the water’s edge and offers some lovely hiking opportunities. Afterwards stop in Ballisu (meaning ‘honeyed water’) and early evening drop anchor in Tuzla for overnight
Cruise to the beautiful Bay of Molla Ihbrahm, which is nestled in the foothills of Kiran Mountains.Swimming among ancient ruins is priceless. Kissebuku Bay is home to the ancient city of Anastasiopolis. Behind its pebble beach lies its acropolis and other important structures. From the early Christian period there are ruins such as a baptistery, a church and a
chapel. Also from the pebble beach there is access to a dirt road that climbs up to one of the most picture perfect panoramic vista’s.
This morning cruise to Orak Island. Take advantage of the calm morning hours sailing smoothly along the Gokova shores. Karaada Island is wellknown for its thermal features, caves and sulfur baths. At 16.00 come into Bodrum harbor. Year round balmy temperatures, international marinas, elegant boutiques, chic cafés and nightclubs and a variety of delightful dining experiences attract many to the lively Bodrum town and harbor.
