DAY 2 Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, Embark Antarctica Cruise

DAYS 3 - 4 Drake Passage
Over the course of the next two days, you’ll cross the Drake Passage, which connects the Atlantic and Pacific oceans between Cape Horn and the South Shetland Islands. To cross the Drake Passage, making your way ever closer to the White Continent, is to achieve one of the great travel milestones - and you’re sure to get caught up in the excitement. During this time, you’ll learn all about the adventures ahead as you participate in a range of informative, interactive and entertaining presentations on the wildlife, history and geology of Antarctica.
DAYS 5 - 9 Antarctic Peninsula
On arrival in Antarctica, your itinerary becomes flexible in order to maximise your discovery of this enchanting world of ice and water. Utilising the knowledge of your Expedition Team, your Captain will charter a course based on the most exciting sightseeing opportunities available and the most favourable ice and weather conditions. For the next five days, you’ll enjoy morning and afternoon Zodiac rides. Experience some of the most unique wildlife viewing in the world as you’re taken to visit penguin rookeries and seal colonies. These chilly waters are often frequented by hunting orca and the breaching forms of humpback and minke whales, so be sure to keep an eye out. Although landing sites will vary depending on conditions, the route will feature the most scenic bays and channels, including the stunning Lemeire Channel and Neko Bay. Head to the shores of Deception Island, an active volcano surrounded by distinctive black sand. Once an old whaling station, you will see giant barrels and bleached whale bones here as well as impressive elephant seals lounging along the shore. You may even get the chance to stop at Port Lockroy, a scientific base currently studying gentoo penguins. Here, you can send a postcard with a rare Antarctic stamp.

Le Lyrial, the ship servicing Classic Antarctica from Buenos Aires

Le Lyrial

Vessel Type: Luxury Small Ship

Length: 142 metres

Passenger Capacity: 224

Launched: 2015

A sleek silhouette, a welcoming intimate atmosphere, discover aboard this new ship the philosophy that has made our sisterships such a success: the spirit of Yacht Cruises.

Sailing under the French flag, this magnificent yacht of only 122 staterooms and Suites, with balconies, will join our fleet in April 2015. You will be enchanted by the contemporary decor inspired by the our destinations and the blue light of the Vega star in the Lyra constellation. The result is a subtle variation around a palette of blues, ranging from the  luminous delicate grey-blue of the Polar ice to splashes of the vivid turquoise blue found in  Mediterranean coves

A refined ambiance is enhanced by the quality of the workmanship and materials: white Corian counters in the lobby contrast with the warmth of leather to recall a boat’s hull, while the central sculpture of enamelled pieces takes its inspiration from the sea. In the loungebar, the carpet picks up a tennis stripe theme symbolising a certain idea of cruising, one synonymous with French elegance and a chic seaside spirit.
